Our Vision for Sustainable Communities

Community 15 is not a huge multi-national house builder focused on making huge, short-term profits to pay millions in fat cat bonuses and billions in shareholder dividends but are focused on making the best community we can for our residents and the wider community over the immediate and longer term.

Each community will have its heating and hot water supplied by a district heating system using bores to pull the heat from deep in the ground and its electricity from structural solar panels used to construct the roofs of the homes, commercial and communal buildings. The homes will be built from timber framed panels using modern methods of construction which results in homes there are highly efficient, way beyond current regulations that will be very cheap to run.

Each site will be self-sufficient in green energy with almost no carbon footprint. The homes will be what is needed locally, not big 5 bed detached homes which are out of locals reach but the focus will be on small starter homes, affordable family friendly homes, the Key Worker Scheme, accessible homes and bungalows for those that need a little help.

Local Manufacturing & Employment

The timber frames will be constructed in a purpose-built 'floating factory' on the site minimising construction traffic, emissions and creating dozens of good jobs for local people from day one. As soon as we have determined the site is viable, we will immediately offer training and sponsor dozens of apprenticeships across the local area as we really believe in our communities being built by local people for local people.

Regular consultation with all local stakeholders will ensure that each community evolves with the local needs at the forefront of every decision.

Cradle to Grave Community Support

As well as the greenest homes being constructed in the greenest way possible, we believe that each community should look after the needs of the new community and wider existing community from "Cradle to Grave".

Local Employment & Fair Wages

All our facilities will be built alongside the homes and ease the pressure on existing services and will be operated and staffed by locals who will all be paid at least our minimum wage of £15.00 per hour. Each site will offer at least 300 permanent jobs and at least as many again during construction, as well as dozens of training and apprenticeship positions.

Environmental Commitment

Large areas will be left to nature such as ponds, wildflower meadows and woodlands so the community encourages nature rather than paving over it, creating a pleasant and varied landscape to live in.

Lower Cost of Living

We also use our group purchasing power to negotiate fantastic community wide deals for utilities, broadband, TV, phones, insurance and even mortgages and banking. So not only do we supply great homes in a great community, but with a much lower cost of living.
